The destination of the journey was Albania and after five days spend there I can honestly clear out couple of miths about this country: roads are like in Poland or even better, new investment all around the country – new big beautiful family houses, foreign capital invested in new fabrics, ports, and tourist areas, hostile people, nowhere even a sign of Mafia which was always associate with Albania, policeman speaking good English, villagers explaining in correct Italian how to get to the main road when I was lost, hundreds of hotels, apartments close to the beach in Durres, which I can compare with what I saw at Costa Brava in Spain, cash machines everywhere, on the roads Mercedes old and brand new. The truth is that Albanians will have to work a lot to get closer to the European stable level, to promote their beaches, tourist places but they are closer then you can imagine. To sum up, after couple days spend in this, recently ruled by strong hand, closed country I got positive impression. You could hear statements that Albania is the poorest country in Europe, if so I can honestly say: that life on this continent – Europe – seems to be quite manageable.
